Guidelines for Getting Dressed

Getting ready in the morning can make or break your day, and the return to in-person activities means that one must dress to leave the house again. Maintaining an effective morning routine makes getting dressed for the day easier, and the right outfit puts you on offense for the day ahead.

Guidelines for Getting Dressed:

  1. Plan your outfits for Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday on Sunday evening.

  2. Aquire a "bedroom chair" to lay your clothes out on.

  3. Pick out your Thursday and Friday outfits the night before; it's easier to have more fun with fashion towards the end of the week.

  4. Think like Elle Woods

    1. Know your calendar

    2. Don't be afraid to dress situationally or make an outfit change halfway through the day! If Beyonce can do it, so can you.

    3. Own the look.

  5. Coordinate your closet.

    1. If you keep your closet's color palette in mind while shopping, you won't have to worry about clashing if you're ever in a rush.

  6. Use music to keep track of time and set the mood.

    1. The albums Hard Candy by Madonna and Love Angel Music Baby by Gwen Stefani are always in my morning rotation and help me get ready in less than an hour.

  7. Use a "wrinkle release" spray.

    1. It's SO much easier than having to iron every morning, and it makes sure all of your shirts look refreshed.

  8. "Before you step out the door, check your final look one last time in a full-length mirror and make sure that you don't look like a crazy wizard." - Alexa Chung.

Greatest Hits

Calvin Klein Jeans Chore Jacket

This was the first Calvin Klein jacket I purchased, from when Raf Simons was the Creative Director of Calvin Klein. Something about its simplicity, logo snaps, and borderline military vibes resonates with me.

Woolworth Dishwater Grey Shirt

I found this shirt at the Goodwill on the East Side of Madison. It is made of a heavy ribbed material that, in my opinion, is the absolute perfect shade of grey. It is the epitome of a waifish shirt.

Levi's Brown Jeans

My Mom bought me these jeans, and for a couple of years, I never wore them. One day I did, and they instantly turned into my favorite pair of pants. Brown jeans are the most underrated garment.
